Ben Simmons declaring for the draft

 

“I’m making it official,” Simmons told ESPN late Sunday.

The 19 year old, 6 foot-10 Australian is expected to be the number one overall pick in this years NBA draft being held on June 23. Simmons averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists for an LSU team that didn’t do enough to make the NCAA tournament with an unimpressive record of 19-14 and just 11-7 in the SEC. LSU opted to decline the invitation to play in the NIT tournament. Although Simmons is expected to go first in the draft, there is a growing belief that he’s gaining competition for that honor from the Duke Freshman, Brandon Ingram.
